Open House Chicago Is Here

The Peoples Church at Preston Bradley Center, by Jim Frazier
The weather outside is gloomy, so what better time to go inside and see some of the best of Chicago's buildings?  This weekend is Open House Chicago, when Chicagoans are welcomed into some of the city's most fascinating places, often for the first time.

You can see some of the wonders of Uptown, listed here.  If you go to the beautiful Preston Bradley Center, be sure to stop in on the fourth floor at the Uptown Arts Center and see the exhibit by The Sharpie King, closing on Monday.

We are particularly eager to see the Agudas Achim Synagogue, which is up for sale and which may not be available much longer.

The former Essanay Studios/St. Augustine College will be showing a loop of one of Charlie Chaplin's movies, filmed right there in the 1920s.

It's over 100 sites all over the city.  It's all free, and it's all open, this weekend only.  Check out the event guide here and enjoy.

  2. We were gratified to host hundreds of visitors at 920 Wilson as one of the 150 sites chosen. A great way to both encounter history and meet new neighbors...
