Calming Our Rowdy Streets

A reader who's a regular contributor writes in:  "I do not know where this came from or who initiated it, but I am delighted to see this 'Safety Zone' pavement marking on west-bound Buena at Marine Drive. This can be a very unsafe intersection during the morning commute with bus riders, school children and parents, cyclists trying to enter the underpass and auto commuters. A big step in the right direction to calm our streets."

  2. Thank goodness, it will make me feel safer walking my dog. On another note, I thought those speed cameras were suppose to be in place by now??

  3. Maybe this is a silly quesiton, but what is a "Safety Zone" and how does it contribute to safety? I noticed this painted on the street in a couple of spots and am puzzled.

  4. I'm delighted to see *anything* that will promote safer driving, biking, street crossing, dog (or jay-) walking, etc., etc.!
