Positive Loitering Tonight, Sheridan & Lawrence

from the Uptown Chicago Commission:

Please join your neighbors for an hour of Positive Loitering this evening from 7-8 pm, at the southwest corner of Lawrence and Sheridan. Bring a friend, bring a neighbor, bring your dog!  The event is being sponsored by the Uptown Chicago Commission and all are welcome to attend. As always, the Police are aware of our efforts and encourage our efforts to take back our streets for law-abiding citizens.

  1. While you're there it might be a good chance to photograph the new graffiti on the south wall of the building that houses U-T Pantry (across from the west wall of the People's Church) to send on to 311.

  2. Anyone from Beacon/Malden and Leland want to go together? Have walking buddies would make this easier :-).

  3. I drove through this intersection today and witnessed a gang shooting outside jj peppers. Saw a man down in the street one in a corner. Two people trying to help the man down in the intersection. Someone was getting beat up on the corner outside the pantry. We pulled into the parking lot to call and shots started firing. We drove away while calling because we were in a jeep with no top or sides and I don't know what happened after that.

  4. I was there just before and after Miss A. All I saw was blood on the sidewalk and a guy with blood on his t-shirt being questioned by the police.
From my studio upstairs never heard any shots, just wailing sirens.

  5. I spoke to three businesses on this corner. No one heard any gunfire.
