Red Line Reroutes

As part of the Red Line station rehabs, a couple things that could affect your travel this weekend:

Argyle is closed to vehicles between Winthrop and Broadway through Monday at noon.

And the northbound Red Line train won't be stopping at most Uptown/Edgewater stops, so you'll have to ride to Loyola and make a southbound U-turn to get to your station:

"Friday, July 27, 2012 - 10:00 PM
to Monday, July 30, 2012 - 4:00 AM
Impact Level:
Planned Work w/Station(s) Bypassed

How does this affect my trip?
Howard-bound trains will not stop at Wilson, Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, or Granville stations.

For service to these stations, take a Howard-bound train to the Loyola and transfer to a 95th-bound train.

For service from these stations, take a 95th-bound train to Sheridan and transfer to a Howard-bound train.

In addition, at Sheridan station, Howard-bound trains will stop at their normal platform, but board/exit trains on the outer tracks instead of the inner tracks.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?  We are performing track renewal and viaduct construction at part of Red North Station Interim Improvement Project."

  1. Took about 20 minutes just to get to Loyola from Sheridan let alone get back to Lawrence! Total nightmare and a huge inconvenience. If they have to bypass stations can't trains avoid the opposite side tracks with workers and go faster? This really put a damper on our evening travel.

  2. This update is SO necessary, a little inconvenience is WORTH it. Bus service is still running, as an option.
