"City of Chicago Releases DRAFT Chicago Cultural Plan. The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) released the DRAFT 2012 Chicago Cultural Plan for public comment and will host four town hall style meetings to continue the conversation with Chicago residents and stakeholders across the city. The draft plan can be downloaded at www.chicagoculturalplan2012.com. The closest town hall meeting locations are:
- July 28 - 10am to 12pm at St. Augustine College-Essanay Studios (1345 W Argyle Street)
- July 31 - 6 to 8pm at Chicago Cultural Center (78 East Washington Street)"
I think the section in the draft that details the big plans to make Uptown a live music district is timely.....whoa waita minute!
ReplyDeleteIt says nothing about Uptown? Really....ya mean with all of the hot air about it and now nothing?
There is no "plan" for Uptown Music District. I have no doubt the man will get help fixing up the big ol Uptown Theater.
And we are getting a new Wilson El.....
But a 3rd large venue and a new el stop does not a music district make.
The neighborhood meeting that was in Rogers Park was the one that covered Uptown. Only myself and one other person from Uptown was there.
This meeting covers the North and NW sides. But it still surprises me with all the buzz Uptown didn't make the draft....
There are a number of ways that DCASE and Lord Consulting have set-up to solicit your feedback and ideas aside from the meetings.
Check it out or forever hold yer peace. For all we know it could be another 26 years till next time.
