Body At Clarendon and Wilson

We are hearing disturbing news from several readers that there is a police presence at Wilson and Clarendon and a body covered by a sheet on the ground.  Does anyone know any further details? Please put them in the comments.  We hope of course there was no foul play involved.

Update: Apparently the man jumped or fell from his apartment on one of the upper floors of the Covington apartment building and has died. Our condolences to those who knew and loved him.

  1. He jumped or fell. Not sure other details, but the police response was abysmally slow.

  4. He jumped or was pushed. There is no way to "fall out" of the windows at the covington.

  5. It happened around 4pm. The body was removed and sidewalk hosed off by cfd around 7:40 pm so the gawkers were mostly gone by 8pm. The section of broken screen and parts of the window covering are still sitting out there. The apt on 13th floor is sealed for investigation.

  6. It was pretty strange seeing the body there. I was going to take a picture for UU. But I did not out of respect for the dead.

  7. My bus drove right by just a few minutes after he fell. It was about a minute before the fire/ambulance arrived. It took a moment for my brain to realize exactly what had happened. I looked right in his eyes. I'll never forget it. My heart goes out to him and his family/friends.
There isn't a word about this on the news sites, I was hoping to find out his name.

  8. I lived there in apt 502 for 3 years. it would be possible to fall out if you were careless, or really drunk, but i don't want to speculate on what happened to this person. very sad.

  9. In response to the 'newtochicago' comment, there certainly is a way to fall out of those windows. Sadly, it could be quite easy. Here's hoping that this was an accident for the sake of friends and family.
