We just heard a lot of yelling, followed by five gunshots, followed by more yelling and a ton of sirens, around Wilson and Broadway. A commenter to our Facebook page said people were running from the scene.
If you have any further information, please put it in the comments. Whatever the hell bug is up the gangbangers' asses that they feel the need for a gang war right now, we wish they'd get rid of it.
Update: Unconfirmed -- a commenter on Facebook says "A Vice Lord that goes by the name of T.J. is the shooter."
Update: Another Facebook commenter says: "Looks like police cuffed three guys on Wilson and Broadway and another two a moment ago on Wilson and Sheridan."
REMINDER: Come to CAPS Beat 2311 tonight and talk to the police about your concerns. Tonight, Tuesday, 7-8pm at Truman College.
What a bunch of pricks, ruining an absolutely beautiful day like today. This is not your "turf", it's our city.
ReplyDeleteAlright, this is getting ridiculous. 3 shootings in 4 days?! (not including the Truman bomb threat
ReplyDeleteClearly whatever the current "strategy" of patrolling (walking a beat, driving routes), surveillance, etc, is inadequate and needs to change. Police, a bit more help on preventing these instances in the first place would be much appreciated.
I witnesses the shooting of a little girl at this corner a few years ago. I was walking my miniature schnauzer that day around 4:30PM. It is probably one of the worst corners in the city.
ReplyDeleteANybody know what is going on at Leland and Malden?
ReplyDeleteUptown needs more vigilantism.
ReplyDeleteI feel the whole 'keep guns/weapons away from all for the greater good' concept is horse-s*$#. So, the law-abiding citizens of our city have to watch all the degenerates shoot up the neighborhood and we can't even legally carry protection? It is a short-sided theory that obviously has no effect on keeping the peace...
ReplyDeleteWow! Three shootings in 1 week!!!! Can’t wait for the Cease Fires Stop the Violence Parade certainly follow, and yes I am being sarcastic. What Uptown needs is a Zero-Gang Tolerance Policy which will force these gangs out of the neighborhood. Make them split up into other sides of the city and see how tough they are when separated from the rest of their goon squad. How will the policy work? Simple any know gang members that have been identified by the authorities will be asked to relocate from the neighborhood. Ask the police to enforce the no loitering law on those main corners like Broadway and Wilson. How many times do you drive or walk by that specific corner and you see people with nothing better to do (like a job) just standing there pacing back and forth. Enforce this on all the problem areas and you will see that this shootings during high peak pedestrian walking hours will diminish.
ReplyDeleteCypher, sorry to bust this draconian bubble but many of the shooters and drug dealers in Uptown don't live in Uptown. Many times I have looked at the police reports and these guys come from all over the city to raise hell in 46th.
