Come On CTA, Get A Move On!

In case you are keeping track, it has been almost 9 months since the CTA erected this scaffolding on one of the worst stretches of Wilson Avenue, only to leave it standing with no repairs being done whatsoever to its CTA "Carpenters Workshop". It must be frustrating for a new business like neighboring Rokito's, who has tried to improve their curb appeal, to be next door to this. Between the vacant Wilson L storefronts, the gigantic sinkhole in the middle of Wilson near Viet Bowl, and the loiterers sitting and drinking on unused construction sawhorses under the purple line viaduct, the 1100 block of Wilson is looking bleak. Getting rid of this scaffolding and getting these buildings repaired is long overdue.

  2. Wilson sucks but the above hyperbole is pretty ridiculous.

  3. As far as I've seen, the thugs don't hang out directly in front of Rokitos.

And even if they did, just walk past them.

As has been said quite often, the little things are often the most effective when combating the street urchins and yobs.

If you want a taco, go get a taco!

    Viva la (taco) revolution!

  4. @DTN Don't let thugs stop you from trying a new restaurant. They aren't milling around the entrance or anything. I go there all the time. We can't let them stop us from enjoying our neighborhood.

  6. It is worth the stop. That place is really good!

That sinkhole is really, really bad. It looks like a washout. It has been "fixed" many times in the past year.

  10. Forget the tacos, ther great but....try the Mexican Hot Dog!!

    Its revolutionary.

The CTA has been using the store next to Rokitos as the carpenter shop for years. Maybe relocating the shop is slowing things down...who knows?

Don't be so skittish DTN, thousands pass by that spot everyday and live to tell the tale.
