Information Age In Uptown

Too much to take in!  This week we've gotten informational newsletters from all three Uptown aldermen, as well as from Ald. Tunney to the south.  [Head... hurts... cannot... compute...]

We'll do another post on the highlights and the info on how you can sign up for them, but this is from Ald. Cappleman on today's shooting:

"At 10:30am today, near 4535 North Sheridan Road, five shots were fired and one individual was hit in the leg and the back. The suspect is now in custody along with the weapon.

The police were there within seconds as 911 calls were coming in. I've met with the Commanders multiple times since being sworn in and made it clear we need more beat cops on the street so when situations like today take place the police are there within seconds.

I will be joining other neighbors doing positive loitering tonight at 7pm at Leland and Sheridan. From there, we will decide where we want to go. I hope you can join us.

Crime and safety are the top of my agenda as your alderman and it is my ultimate goal to make days like today a thing of the past."

    Awesome.

"made it clear we need more beat cops on the street so when situations like today take place the police are there within seconds."

Well worded, but JC doesn't really have that much control over this. Also, we need to get rid of the root problem not react to it. Police being there in seconds doesn't help me if I've already been shot in the head.

I have confidence that it will get better now, however.

  2. Middle finger pointed straight up for you Helen. You held this ward hostage for way too long.

Good luck to all surrounding alderman cleaning up this mess. Great start so far with communication.

  3. even though what happened today really ticked me off something like this happens so early in the morning. but i like how in the area i have seen more cops walking around the streets we really need this. maybe the fools will start to think twice about what they do now.
