"Child endangerment charges have been filed against the father of a 9-month-old baby who was abandoned at an Archdiocese of Chicago building on the Near North Side Thursday. James Evans, of 4615 N. Clifton Ave., was charged with a misdemeanor charge of endangering the life and health of a child, according to police.
At 11:45 a.m. Friday — nearly 20 hours after the child was abandoned — Evans went to the Town Hall District police station to report the baby missing, and was arrested. Police said it marked the 40th time Evans has been arrested." Read more on the story at CBS2.
We're glad the little girl is now being cared for at a hospital, and we hope Mr. Evans receives the help he needs. Especially from the CBS2 link, it sounds to us like he was at the end of his rope, and very confused. Leaving a baby at a church isn't responsible, true that, and we're glad she didn't end up in worse condition. But we remember Baby Wilson with great sorrow, and we're glad Mr. Evans did a little better by his child than Baby Wilson's mother did by him.

I'm not sure what his circumstances were and there is no excuse for what he did, but I think it's interesting that he chose to leave the baby at a church. In his confused mind, I think he thought he was doing something humane. I hope he gets the help he needs. Sad story.
