Satur[Day] Of Service

Ald.-Elect James Cappleman has asked for Saturday to be a Day of Service in the 46th Ward and is working with participating block clubs.  There are several ways to join in:
  • Truman Square Neighbors will meet at 9:30 at Aster Playlot, 4639 N Kenmore.  "We will be doing a little work at the playlot before moving on to Kenmore and Lawrence to plant and clean up the area." Expect to be done by noon.
  • Winona-Foster-Carmen-Winnemac (WFCW) Block Club will have a clean-up from 9-11am. Tables will be set up at the intersections of Glenwood at each of the following: Winnemac, Carmen, and Foster. FREE coffee and BYOM (bring your own mug). "We are also donating hostas, daisies, black-eyed susan, solomon seal, may apple and a few more plants. Hope to catch you Saturday."
  • Buena Park Neighbors will have its spring clean-up between 10am-noon (followed by socializing at Bar on Buena)  Meet at Dollop Coffee, 4181 N. Clarendon.  "Brooms, rakes, shovels and bags will be provided; bring work gloves if you have them.  Two lucky participants will each win a pair of Cubs tickets thanks to Senate President John Cullerton."
  • Magnolia Malden Neighbors will meet at 9:30am at Gooseberry Play Lot. "We’ll do a little clean up in the park."
  • Freelancing, or don't see your block club listed? C'mon over to James's transition office (4133 N Broadway, at Belle Plaine) at 9am, grab some coffee, say hi to James, and be deployed from there.
Everyone who participates in the Day of Service will receive a t-shirt and a wristband for the Pub Crawl (regularly $15) that takes place starting at 7pm on Saturday night. A worthy reward for sore muscles.
