New Day A-Dawning

When you woke up this morning, depending on where you live in Uptown, your alderman was either Gene Schulter, Helen Shiller or Mary Ann Smith.  And it's been that way for decades.  Ald. Schulter was first elected in 1975, Ald. Shiller in 1987, and Ald. Smith was appointed in 1989.  An entire generation of Uptowners have grown up knowing no other aldermen.

So today is a triple shocker.  For the first time since When Harry Met Sally was playing in the local theatres and Madonna sang Like A Prayer on MTV, Uptown is getting fresh aldermanic faces, and three of them at that.  When you go to bed tonight, no matter where you live in Uptown, you'll have a new alderman.

New terms begin at noon.  We welcome Alderman James Cappleman (46th Ward), Alderman Harry Osterman (48th Ward), and Alderman Ameya Pawar (47th Ward).  Good luck, gentlemen.

  2. This is a great shot Patrick! I remember when it was posted a few months back, actually painting a watercolour referenced from it.

Congratulations to all of the new Alderman and da Mayor, especially a big cheers to James, The 46th Ward is the Uptown Ward....mostly.
