"After School Matters" Program Accepting Applications

After School Matters® has announced that registration for its summer programs is now open to Chicago teens. Beginning June 20, the organization will offer fresh, fun career-readiness programming in the arts, science, sports, technology and communications throughout the city.  After School Matters programs are provided at no cost to participants, and all current high school teens who are residents of Chicago are encouraged to apply. The programs are a unique and powerful way for teens to gain professional experience while enjoying the company of their peers in a safe environment.

In Uptown, there are many opportunities, including:

• Working on the Bricolage at Uplift (presumably the former graff wall)
• Learn to sew and design clothing at I Am You
• Work with immigrants and the elderly, among other groups, at the South East Asian Center
• Learn digital filmmaking at Alternatives
• Other opportunities with the City, the parks, or the CHA programs.
