Uptown's Violence Contributes To A Pulitzer

Congratulations to Mark Konkol, Frank Main and John J. Kim of the Sun-Times, who won a Pulitzer Prize this week for their multi-part article about Chicago's gun violence and the "no-snitching" code that keeps it thriving.

They featured Uptown in it -- a gunshot victim, Willie Brown, who was shot on Sunnyside near Sheridan, but met the Sun-Times reporter at the Wilson/Sheridan McDonald's and proudly declared he wasn't saying who did it ("I could be Willie the Rat").  We posted about the shooting when it happened, and the article when it was published last summer.
