Looking South On Broadway Towards Wilson, 1955

Wow. Hat tip to Uptown Chicago History Blog for linking to this amazing shot of the 4600 block of Broadway back in 1955. Most everything on the left side of Broadway was demolished for the amazing retail we see today.   1. i believe the big building on the NE corner (where walgreen's is pictured) was lost to fire, as were many buildings in the area.

    sad to see what is there now, but there is potential for new development in the future as the area improves (ever so slowly at times).
