When Uptown Was Hollywood

There's a story on Fox Chicago about Essennay Studios and Uptown's past as America's first film capital. We've run items about that era before, but it's always nice when Uptown gets some positive recognition. Always makes us laugh to see the name Charlie Chaplin given so much weight when he only lived in Uptown 23 days (Chicago winters!).  Could he be Uptown's original "Little Tramp"?

  1. I looked up where Charlie Chaplin lived on Lawrence Avenue. I found 1027 W Lawrence. This is where dib is currently located. I just got lunch there today!
