The Sun-Times has an article today about the Chicago beat cop who's been the caretaker of the Uptown Theatre for more than a decade. Read about David Syfczak and what's going on with the theatre here: "Uptown Theatre: A Glorious Sanctuary for Some"
I was leaving Crew one afternoon last fall and noticed that two of the Uptown's front doors were open. I couldn't resist taking a step inside to try and get a look at the lobby. Anyhow, as soon as I did, I heard someone sternly ask "What are you doing?"
It was David, up on a ladder several feet away in the entry vestibule. I quickly excused myself and left.
I thought this was a cool article. I wish someone would win the lotto and pay for the restoration. It'd be wonderful.
