Let's Get Physical (Therapy)

We happened to be at Walgreen's last week and saw that ATI Physical Therapy is moving into the 'hood, at 4620 North Clark, in the former Blockbuster storefront.

Glad to see an empty retail space get filled, and we welcome ATI to Uptown.  The website says "Opening Soon" and workers were moving equipment in while we were there.

  1. Pardon me for not getting overly excited about this. So now after strolling up wholesaler block, we have something else I'll never use. Ugh.

  2. HB, take it from a PT veteran: you never know when you'll need it. The human body is a strange and unpredictable animal; anyone can go to sleep fine and wake up the next day with something that requires six weeks of daily PT. May your good health continue! Maybe the common ground we can agree on is that it's better to have a business there contributing to the tax base than an empty storefront?

  3. Yes, that we can agree on. I just wish that block of Clark would be better developed. I am not a fan of wholesalers row. I thought there was talk of moving them as a group to another part of the city so that block of Clark could be better developed, but that idea never seems to have taken off.

  4. HurlyBurly, why so negative? I don't get why people complain about the empty storefronts in the neighborhood and then have issue when a new business finally moves in. I'm just grateful that we'll have another nice, reputable business in the area.

  5. You will not find any previous complaints from me about empty storefronts. I just have higher hopes for new businesses sprouting up in the neighborhood. They've got 2 nice restaurants recently opened on that corner, and to me this type of business is wholly uninspiring in revitalizing that rundown block of wholesalers.

  6. I don't pretend to speak for HurlyB...I just wonder, "what if". What if there was a discipline/profession directed towards urban planning. What if there were data which could be used to determine what types of businesses draw what types of consumers. What if, for instance, there was data to suggest consumers of PT generally spend x hours in the surrounding community and y dollars? Perhaps a community could actually plan its development.

  7. HB - stop hatin' on the wholesalers. Like many members of the Fairer Sex, I love checking out the bargains to be had in those stores that are open to the general public. The bare-bones atmosphere is the trade-off for getting great merchandise at wholesale prices. And this week the perfume store is having a half-price sale on designer fragrances...there goes the paycheck! :-)
