Urban Decay

We wonder how long it will be before this CTA viaduct at Broadway and Leland completely crumbles? The internal re-bar is even more visible than last time we checked in November 2007. How about throwin' some TIF money at that? This is what greets people as they enter the 46th Ward. Lovely.

  2. Say it ain't so Candice... I was sure I could count on you to advocate for the continued dilapidation of our community. This adds character...challenges the the pedestrian/motorist to heightened awareness and all.

  3. The Red Line stretch North of Addison is in major need of repair. Not only are the sections supported by concrete and rebar crumbling, but the metal structures are rusting away. The CTA along with all alderman along the northern Red Line need to put funds into fixing the crumbling and rusting structure before the "L" comes crashing down to street level. I don't need a "fish farm" or more low income housing, I need a safe decent looking and operating transit system. Besides if the "L" crashes to the ground and no longer operates in our area how are the drug dealers/buyers, gang members, and criminals going to get to Uptown to do buisness? Oh wait they will be living here in larger numbers once Wilson Yard starts moving in the criminal element. Also, those who will want to shop at the new Target will not need a safe "L" system becasue we all know only snobby evil condo owners shop there and they all have thier own cars and never use public trasportation.

  4. The CTA regularly hires personnel and management with no experience in the field other than public finance. Everyone should know by now that public finance is a field ripe with corruption.

Mayor Daley makes President Bush look like Albert Einstein.

The axis will continue until you throw these elected officials out, axe the board of directors that mismanagement public assets, and promote a candidate for Mayor that actually values good government.

  5. Just FYI, the concrete upright shown in this picture was plowed into by a motorist less than one week ago head-on. They were not severely injured and the car was driveable afterward though damaged.
