Call To Action: Dial 311 For Tag Removal

It looks like the punk gangbanger wannabes with crayons and paint have resumed their assault on Kenmore, just north of Irving Park.  A reader reports that the building at 4149 N Kenmore was hit badly over the Christmas weekend, with the brick walls, garage doors and entry doors being tagged.  Please consider making a call to 311 to request Graffiti Blasters come out to remove this as soon as possible.  The tags are on unpainted brick, on a black entry door and a black garage door.  They're located on the alley side of the property.

  1. Same identical tag went up on the garage at 930 west lakeside over Thanksgiving weekend...who says are youth are wasting their time during school breaks?

FYI, it took 10 DAYS for graffiti blasters to get that one off..and they still have not touched any of the lamp posts that were hit at the same time (and called in at the same time) at ARAI park next to Uplift H.S>

  2. The last time I called and recalled and recalled about Gang Tags in our alley it took over two weeks. This is a City Wide Problem as the Department has been "Cut back" according to a supervisor I spoke with.

  3. I'm no expert, but that looks fairly real. I doubt a wannabe is going to risk using Latin King type symbols. Let's hope it comes down soon.

  4. Who cares if it takes 2 weeks, the point is to get it done. Call it in; I suggested before that everyone take a walk and make one call and we'd have it all called in. This is a continuous process. Unfortunately, living in a neighborhood where our Alderman doesn't care, we have to take it upon ourselves!

  5. I called in some tags near Stewart School, on the side of Uptown Pizza, on Saturday, and they had been painted over already on Monday.

  7. I have a dumb question...can you call in any graffiti on any building, even if you don't own or live in it?

I saw the one on Lakeside every day I went to work. Since it wasn't my house, I didn't know if I could call it in. I'm sure the building- or home-owners already took care of it, but I guess I could've as well. Do more complaints from more people speed up the process?

  8. Hi Anders, you certainly can... and should! I call all the time about buildings that aren't mine. The more calls, the better.
