2 weeks after I moved in this summer, a neighbor's apartment was burglarized during the day while I was home!! I didn't hear it, and neither did another neighbor who was home at the time. I think I'll be installing http://www.djarmor.com this coming weekend.
We had 4 cars in our gated lot vandalized in varying degrees during the past year. I was told by someone who had this happen to them that it's homeless people who break into the cars looking for spare change and bills at night. One car had the steering column torn apart, so I don't think that was what happened in that incident. Looks like we can't even keep people off private property with a locked gate. Nothing ever comes of these reports. They're "insurance matters." As long as that 's the case, they'll keep on happening.
We had some miscreant who crow-bared our back gate awhile back. I guess us uptown homeowners need to remember this isn't your college campus'.
