In 1996 "A Family Thing" came out. James Earl Jones and Robert Duvall.Lotsa scenes filmed on the 4600 block of Broadway. Doesn't look all that much different today, sadly.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116275/
i saw eagle eye for the first time a few weeks ago. it features a scene at the Wilson red line stop
I saw this posting, and I was thinking it was about"Uptown Inspired" horror/drama movies!:"Nightmare on Wilson (I mean Elm) Street""Soylent Green" (a frightening tale about vanishing/mysterious TIF dollars)?"Night of the Living Dead" (a walk home from the Wilson L stop)"Titanic" (I wonder what/who the 'iceberg' is up here?"Godzilla" (blind desecration of a neighborhood bya near-sighted beast)Come to think of it.....if one were to write a script/title, of Uptown's latest troubles for a movie, it would be about......?
Negotiator (1998) was partly filmed in Uptown too (open scene, first 15 minutes)
Jason,About 4 minutes in to this video is the Uptown scene in "The Negotiator".I didn't know that was filmed here.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CKbopENnK8&feature=related
I believe the opening basketball scene in Running Scared (Billy Crystal/Gregory Hines) was filmed at the corner of Leland and Magnolia.
IrishPirate,OK.. so it is actually the first 7 minutes and 25 seconds of the movie (minus the opening trailer) that was filmed in Uptown. It was filmed at Leland & Winthrop within The Clover Building. Here is a better link with the whole scene.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q2KMscDKpI
Also, don't forget that ER filmed a scene here at the same corner and used the same building as was The Negotiator for their T-Minus 6 scene (2009). I am working on posting the video clip.
