On Friday, December 4th, come check out some of Uptown’s finest youth do their thing at Alternatives, Inc., 4730 N. Sheridan Rd.  Uptown Stories is a Hip-Hop show, written and produced by the young people in Alternatives’ Connect Force program. The show explores how young people at Alternatives use Hip-Hop and Community as tools of resistance against violence. Don’t miss out on this Youth Hip-Hop extravaganza! There is a suggested donation of $5 for admission but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. The show is family friendly so parents and young people are encouraged to attend together! Doors at 6pm, show at 7pm.

  1. Alright UU. We comment about the negative in our neighborhood and deservedly so but lets give some props for the kids at Alternatives.

  2. For all of us who do positive loitering at the corner of Leland and Sheridan every Friday at 7pm, this might be a great alternative (pun intended).

  3. This is very cool, indeed. A few months ago I was feeling so down about Uptown, but now I feel like I am seeing positive things from time to time that make me feel a bit more optimistic. Much respect to these kids.

  4. A few friends and I went to this and it was such a great experience! The kids put in an incredible effort and had some impressive talent. I've never seen breakdancing like that before! It looked like magic! Amazing job, kids!!!
