Sticker Shock?

A reader writes in:
"I live on the 4700 block of N Kenmore and I noticed last night when I got home from work that several cars had parking tickets on them for not having a permit parking pass. However, after a closer look I realized that these cars had the new city stickers which incorporate the permit parking pass on them. Maybe the police are unaware of these new 2-in-1 stickers but it would be helpful if they were notified before they start writing all of us tickets, as I have yet to put my new one on because of this. Any suggestions?

  1. It probably was the ticket writters. I have seen them around the streets of cubs park putting the same on cars parked there. Those who got tickets will have to go and prove they had the correct sticker. I would call the parking enforcement division and tell them their ticket writters are screwing up as usual and instruct them about the issue......

  3. I'm on the 4800 block of N. Kenmore and was unaware of permit parking being implemented nearby. Does anyone have any more info on this?

  5. The old stickers don't expire till the end of June. So they may be getting tickets b/c they have the new one displayed and are no longer displaying the old sticker. If you are going to put the new sticker on prior to June 30, I'd recommend leaving the current one on as well.

  6. but you don't have to leave the old one. the tickets were improperly given. just contest them and informal the local ticketing agent.

  7. last weekend, I saw a two cops in a squad car around midnight ticketing a half dozen cars for this reason (inc mine) on residential streets north of lawrence.

Then they stopped and sat still a while, and then went back and took them off all the cars, apparently realizing their mistake.
