Sad story from WBBM780:
Woman charged with neglecting three kids
A reportedly intoxicated woman was arrested and charged with neglect after she left her three of her children without proper clothing under a Lake Shore Drive viaduct, “drenched” in the rain, late Tuesday on the North Side. Deanna Escobar, 31, of the 800 block of West Lawrence Avenue, was charged with neglect of a minor after she was arrested about 11:40 p.m. near West Lawrence Avenue and North Lake Shore Drive, according to police.
A police report said Escobar was placed in custody for having her children -- a 2-year-old boy, 3-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy -- without proper clothing for the weather after they were found very cold and drenched in rain on the sidewalk under a Lake Shore Drive viaduct while she was allegedly highly intoxicated and barefoot.

The children suffer through no fault of their own. Mother needs serious help and where do we put her and the kids? Is dad in the picture? In 20 years the kids'll be behind bars. This is why social funds are needed, cheaper in the long run.Where is the father?
ReplyDeleteAt least the mother has family who took in the kids. Better that than the "system."
ReplyDeleteI missed the follow up on that story, still the family will be overwhelmed.Maybe investing in humans would pay off were it done humanely.
ReplyDeletePeople like this have no business raising children. I certainly hope they take and keep her children away from her until she proves she can function as a mother.
