Bad Juju

From the Sun-Times:

Stolen statue contained gay activist's ashes

Someone swiped a statue containing the remains of a prominent Chicago gay activist from an Uptown peace garden last weekend.

The statue, a replica of the Bird Girl sculpture that appeared on the cover of the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, was part of a garden tribute created last year next to the Howard Brown Health Center, 4025 N. Sheridan, honoring Mary York, an attorney, and Lisa Tonna. Both lesbian health advocates, they died within two weeks of each other in January 2008.

  1. Yeah,

whoever stole this statue should return it pronto or those lesbian ghosts may destroy their landscaping or make them wear plaid.

    I kid the lesbian ghosts.

I will send before and after pics of my landscaping. I imagine my grass is about to die.
