All That Glitters....

The design has been traced for a few weeks now, and now the mosaic tiling has begun on the Foster Avenue bricolage that honors Uptown's Native American history. If you drive or walk past the underpass, you can see the glitter shimmering (especially impressive when the car headlights reflect off the walls). We wonder if the same artists from Alternatives who did the other local bricolages (at 4730 N Sheridan and the Bryn Mawr underpass) are providing the work here? We look forward to checking back on the progress in future weeks.

  1. I think it will be a nice addition to the looks of that ward. I have seen others across the city and a few years later after they are painted they become all peeled and faded out. I hope they would come back every year and touch them up or they present a bigger eye-sore then before they where painted....

  2. Barry, the bricolage is tile and mosaic, not paint, so hopefully it won't fade, esp. being in an underpass. The one at Alternatives still looks nice after years of sunshine!

  3. I think that this is just awesome! I have enjoyed the one at Bryn Mawr for a few years and wondered what it would take to get something similar at Foster or Lawrence. I am very glad to see this beautiful addition to our community! Great work to those doing this work and thank you!
