  1. What a mess. It really scares you to death to hear all the problems our Uptown presents. I wonder of Helen Schiller got hers turned on to the hear needs of our area. I love my home here and I hope many of us do too, enought to take action to help prevent crime from taking over....Everyone one is needed to do thier part to report crime as much as possible specially with summer around the corner. Its only going to get worse............

  2. It's not the number and type of incidents that surprise me. Listen to a scanner in any part of the city and you'll hear that. What gets me is the time. All of this stuff is going on IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON. From about 1:30 to 3:30. I guess if you don't have a job or aren't working you gotta fill your days somehow...

    In your neighborhood,
    In your neigh-bor-hooood...

  4. Does Target know this? They've chosen a swell spot for their new store.

  5. No fight occurred at 906 yesterday. Lots of yelling and talking about fighting, but no actual fighting.

/not the person who called it in.

  6. K! That makes it ok? Nobody killed so the crazy thugery is ok?

  7. No, thugery isn't ok. But this was just a case of kids doing what kids do. It was really not a big deal at all. Had it been, I would've called 311.

I should also note that there were adults there, presumably to step in if anything actually happened, as this was occurring in front of one of the teen's home.

A cop did drive by, but by that point the group had gone their separate ways.

  8. K. it is mob action. "Kids just doing what kids do'??? PLEASE! This is not Mayberry. These "Kids" know no restraints. They rove in packs. It is this same "Kid" mentality that results in the daily killing (resently killing and body burning) of other kids.
NOTE: 911 is the # for reporting trouble. NOT 311. Get with the program

  9. Buenapk, were you even there? Because I was.

This was not a mob. This was not a roving gang.

These were kids walking home from school.

Am I denying that bad things happen to kids? Nope. Am I unaware that the death rate of teens in Chicago is at an all time high? No.

But I refuse to subscribe to your apparent theory that every teen in Chicago is a thuggish gang member out for blood. It's just not the case.
