North Side Community Prosecutions Office Reopens - You're Invited

A note from the 48th Ward aldermanic aide, Dana Fritz, whose area is public safety:

"Please open and distribute the following attachment from State's Attorney Anita Alvarez. In it her office announces the reopening of the North Side Community Prosecutions office. Previously this office and Assistant State's Attorney Joy Repella were a strong component of community policing in the area and we are very excited to see this resource return.

Community Prosecutions helped tackle chronic problems and offenders and provided a single point of contact for important cases as they worked their way through the Criminal Justice system.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the North Side office, located at 5333 N Western, on Friday, May 8th at 11:00 a.m. to which the community is also invited."

  1. Here's something rather strange. I emailed the Communications Office of the Cook County District Attorney to ask about this press release. I had looked on their website for the release and it wasn't listed.

They told me they haven't published a press release announcing the re-opening of the Local Prosecutors Office for the North Side.

I emailed them back attaching a copy of a press release the Uptown Business Partners are distributing. I haven't heard back from the District Attorney's Office.

Could it really be this bad that the DA's own office doesn't know about press releases the DA's office has issued?

  2. The states attorney office also has a drug and gang division where you can provide information on hot spots of drug and gang activity. I think it`s good to stop by there and provide them with some of these things that are going on in our home area and see what they can offer and suggest......

  3. Brennan- your problem might be that there is no such thing as the "Cook County District Attorney." You probably got that from TV. Maybe you should try emailing the Cook County State's Attorney.
