Lingonberry and Cinnamon Roll Garden?

Way back in July 2007, Uptown Update asked "What's Being Built Here?" (at Irving Park and the el tracks) and found out from the comments that it was set to be a community garden in the floor plan of an actual house. We passed by the other day and not only found it in bloom, but that it was donated by Ald. Tunney and named after the Swedish restaurants he owns. Nice job all around.

  1. Too bad I see it continuously used as a bivouac for our less fortunate residents. Not exactly what Sathers had in mind, I'm sure.

  2. Maybe some smart entrepreneur will set up a mobile cart and sell those famous cinnamon rolls to Cub-goers as they exit their cars and tour buses!

Such a charming improvement on what was once an eyesore lot with a crumbling old house. (How did the residents ever survive living so close to the L?)

  3. That was a fantastically old house that was most likely one of the older in the area. Yes, it had fallen into disrepair but it had great potential.
