Cedar Cleaners Robbed

A reader writes in with the following info:
"Wanted to let you know that Cedar Cleaners at 4348 North Broadway was robbed. The front door was shattered, cash register was smashed on the floor and cash from the register was stolen. I stayed with the owner until the police came. The police were very nice and very helpful. I was not able to take a photo of the door though."

UU Note: We encourage our readers to give Cedar Cleaners our support. If you live nearby, your patronage would be appreciated.

  1. Thanks for the update. I have a bag full of stuff I was going to take to my usual merchant. I'll take it instead to Cedar Cleaners.

I'll tell them Uptown Update sent me.

  2. Yay Brennan; I'm going to try to do the same... although it's a little bit of a hike from my place and I am sans-car these days.

  3. I have a load of dry cleaning I will drop off in the morning. Its probably a good idea since our current cleaners is not the greatest.

  4. It's a walk for me too. I'll tell my usual cleaners why I didn't bring my business to them.

This is a mutual assurance concern. What's bad for one merchant is most likely going to be bad for all of them.

Heck, walking to these local places is better than a drive. Puts more people on the ground and capital in motion. We need as much of this above ground flow as possible.

  5. This used to be my cleanser of choice until we moved to a building with one inside. The woman that works there (Cedar) was amazing in that she always knew my name the moment I walked in and knew exactly where I lived. And I didn't even go in but about once every three weeks! (I have a nice collection of button shirts. Too much, truth be told.)

  6. Good Lord.... when will these businesses learn... At closing, the cash register drawer needs to be left visibly open with the drawer out on the counter. There is no doubt left to anyone looking in that the register is empty.
