Battlestar Chicago? Cylon Shiller?

"Decider Chicago" has a very funny post comparing Chicago politics to the world of Battlestar Galactica, with Mayor Daley as Commander Adama. Read the whole thing for a good giggle, but we just had to poach this section with an Uptown reference:

"Cylons (a.k.a. Reformers). Sure, the Cylons tried exterminating the entire human race, but some of them learned from their mistakes and now want a seat at the table to help humanity improve the plight of its condition. When a splitter group of the Cylons joined the ever-diminishing human fleet of spaceships, Adama wasn’t ready to give them anything unless they gave up something first.

That’s a page right out of the Daley handbook: Look at last year’s controversial city council vote to move the Children’s Museum to Grant Park. City council members who are usually considered reformers, like aldermen Ricardo Muñoz and Helen Shiller, surprised some by voting with the mayor’s plan. That led some skeptics to wonder if any backroom deals were made with the mayor."

  1. Hmm...no one watches BattleStar Galactica (which just ended its run -- like some of the ending, not so much for other parts)?
