Pizza Guy Robbed At Gunpoint In Uptown

FROM STNG WIRE REPORTS

Two armed men punched and robbed a man who was delivering a pizza in the Uptown neighborhood early Wednesday on the North Side.

About 2:30 a.m., the deliveryman exited his car and began walking towards a residence on the 4400 block of North Malden Street to deliver a pizza when he was attacked and robbed, Town Hall District police said.

Two black men wearing dark clothing walked up to him, displayed a handgun and punched him in the face before taking his money -- and possibly the pizza -- and running off, police said.

The deliveryman refused medical treatment on the scene and the two suspects are not in police custody as of 4:30 a.m.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating.

  2. And don't be surprised if this particular pizza place decides to stop delivering pizzas ast 2:30 a.m., at least to this location...

  3. It's not a good idea to eat pizza so late in the evening before bed.

  4. I am sure the police will solve this like they did with all the shootings this summer.

Feel free to start with the gang a street over.

    Change.

  6. This is why citizens should be allowed to carry guns.

People won't rob people if they didn't know whether or not their target was armed.

I am anti gun, but I must admit an armed society is a polite society.

  8. Before this turns into a gun rights discussion, I'm going to just throw out there that I'm entirely surprised this doesn't happen more often. These guys don't carry a lot of money, but they do carry some... and they're sitting ducks for robbers. I definitely feel for them, it's a tough and pretty thankless job.

  11. About two months ago a young lady from El Mariachi called us to let us know that our dinner delivery was going to be late. The driver was robbed of his money and our food on his way to deliver. I felt so bad for the guy. We tipped him extra nice.

  12. Are we sure the two suspects weren't community organizers for a new "Night Labor" social service organization?

Maybe they know this new Uptown social service[not day labor, but training day laborers to be skilled leaders] organization?

  13. As someone who lives on the 4400 block of Malden, I'm glad the pizza guy wasn't shot

On a less serious note, can someone throw a cyber-muzzle on Billyjoe? Please?

  14. Really Billyjoe?

At what point did I say these robberies never happen? I said I'm surprised they don't happen more often.

I suppose I could be as sarcastic as you were and try to teach you how to re-read my first post, but I'm not going to stoop to your level.

  16. Probably a pizza man robbery ring. One guy calls in an order while his pals wait behind the bushes for the delivery. I'm all about carrying a gun while residing in Uptown.

  17. Why should only the criminals be able to carry guns?

  19. well, since we're on the gun rights topic... for those who haven't been following, there are a number of lawsuits currently filed against the city of chicago to overturn its ban on handguns (it's been working so well hasn't it?) in light of last summer's historic overturn of washington dc's handgun ban by the supreme court.

of course in the first hearings, the lawsuit against the city was shot down, but the attorneys are now in the process of reaching the appellate courts, where their motion will be filed this week.

doubt we'll ever see the opportunity in this state to legally carry concealed weapons (currently IL and WI are the only states in the nation that have an outright ban against it), but it sure would be nice, wouldn't it?

have a good night all, stay safe!
