We just drove by. Two of the street corners are taped off and it looked there were two people in the back of two cop cars.

Neighbors are filing in with quality tips. One caller suggested checking the camera mounted outside the 7/Eleven at 1136 West Wilson. They saw the offenders run by that location. Are there any blue light cameras in that area?

7/Eleven employee thinks they've got a good look at one of the alleged offenders on camera five.

  1. Oh, thank heaven. Looks like 7/Eleven delivered on it's promise to be a good neighbor.

Job well done to the employees for stepping up to the plate and telling the police you saw something - and want to help.

  3. Why oh why can't crime take a holiday?

While driving to my family's Christmas celebration this morning I heard about a "disgruntled ex-husband" who disguised himself in a Santa suit, went to a party where his ex-wife was in attendance, and started shooting, causing deaths and injuries.

So depressing any time...but especially today.

  4. There is a blue light camera on the corner of Magnolia & Wilson. I would imagine the police would check that footage. Which brings up an interesting question-- why don't they put one of those cameras at Wilson & Broadway given that that's where a lot of stuff seems to go down?

Does anyone know the status of the person who was shot?

  5. Merry XMas everyone!!! Don't worry, I am sure we can call the alderman and she will be outraged about the incident. Perhaps she can call operation PUSH to come out and march to end the violence in the community.

  6. She is doing ok. She is in stable condition, and doctors don't know if they are going to be able to get the bullet out. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. . .

My roommate works with her, and just got back from the hospital. She is in very good spirits.

If interested, we are taking donations to buy her a new winter coat. She just saved up enough money for one, and now it is ripped up and soaked in blood. We know how cold Chicago is...

email me if interested in making a donation: jenpagonis@comcast.net

  7. I walk through this intersection EVERY DAY at 12:05. That's a pretty shocking thing to hear about. If it had been any other normal day I would have been there.

Jenn, I hope she recovers well.

  8. If possible, please post the pictures of the 3 possible offenders so that we can all be informed of who to avoid. Most likely either one of them did the shooting or they saw who did the shooting. In either case I want to know who they are so I can stay away from them before I accidently get shot.

Unless they're actually charged with the shooting, getting their photos from the police won't happen. and even if you did, posting the photos of three "possible" offenders is asking for a lawsuit.

  10. I wouldn't get your hopes up with the blue light camera. Two seperate smash and grabs (Alma Pita and Drycleaners next door) both in the shadow of the blinking blue light. This most likely stems from the large lay off of non-uniformed CPD employees. Police are fighting an up hill battle with less and less support.

This woman could of been any of us. Believe me the intended target is usually the safest person on the street when these knuckle heads open up.

About 3-4 months ago I was walking my dogs by the sunnyside mall around midnight when about 5 teens started running straight for me. I initially thought they where going to rile up my dogs and run by, innocent-stupid adolescent stuff. When they got closer I reliezed they where all freaked out and they wheren't running toward me, they where running away from a guy by the malden cudesac. When I finally saw him I thought I was going to catch a stray bullett in the head as he was pointing a gun right at all of us. Me being the only bystander around I knew I was destend to be the only one shot if this A-hole fired. Thank God he didn't.

Someone should go by the Alderman's office to collect donations for this coat fund. I'm sure all of the Alderman's staff would want to contribute something.

  12. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't hear anything about this on the news. Why is it that shootings on the "south side" and "west side" are always being reported? However, many times I've read about shootings in Uptown on UU, without ever hearing more in the Trib or Sun-times, or on the news?
