Obama Banners Appear On Wilson

Seen today in front of the world-famous Wilson Men's Hotel at Wilson and Clifton.

  1. The banners say that they were paid for by the Mayor's office.

  2. Great. Glad to see our city is extending its celebration of Obama's win. Thanks to Michael Jordan and Barack Obama, we can finally put our notoriety re Al Capone and The 1968 Riots to rest.

Also realize that wherever outside the US that Chicagoans travel, they will be known as residents from the great leader's homeland.

Chicago will receive increased worldwide media exposure during the next several years. That's pretty cool for people who think we live in a great city.

  3. Imagine the media exposure if Obama gets two terms and Chicago gets the 2016 Olympics.

  4. Not to split hairs, but the banners were paid by Mayor's campaign funds, not his office (which would be tax payer money)

  5. If it wasn't tax money, then I think these banners are fine.

  6. Daley is required to state on the banner how it's paid or risk getting fined by the Board of Elections. Just wondering, is it stated on the banner that it's paid for by Citizens for Daley? There is some writing at the bottom of the banner and I can't read it from the photo.

  7. Then I'm guessing the Mayor's campaign funds paid for the labor to hang the banners and a market rate leasing fee for the space on the pole.

  9. More details on the banners here:

    Pertinent quote:

"It's paid for out of my campaign committee, so you don't have to write an article about that," Daley said.

  10. Obama's mantra of "Yes We Can" is actually a spin on an old Daley favorite: "YES I CAN"

  11. Nice to see that the Ministry of Truth is in full effect.

While "Big Brother" allows us "Proles" to live in this Orwellian utopia.

I love Da Mayors blatant propaganda..Hey look at Obama! I know him! I must be "Great" as well! If he is the next Jesus, I must be an Apostile! Obama, Olympics, Obama, Olympics, Uma, Oprah! Yeah!

  13. Awe Pirate are you upset you can't bust in to your Palin monolouge any longer? Or the fact that you and BJ seem to be running in the same political circle?

I am ok with the the election results. Im just a little irritated of the fawning while my property value and stocks sink lower and lower and lower.

Maybe if I pray at one of these new Obama signs my luck will "Change."

You're getting the picture. You've taken the first step to being a true blue Obmaite. You've got "Hope".

  15. Praying at the new Obama sign?

I hadn't thought about that. Since it's on Wilson I'll pray for a hooker. Shouldn't take long for one to walk by. Perhaps I should pray for a good looking hooker. If that happens then perhaps Obama truly is "The One".

As for Craig can't you spread your unique form of happiness and joy strictly in Rogers Park? Keep BillyJoe with you to. I know he claims to live nearby in his mom's basement.

Now as to Sarah Palin she is the single most popular person among the Republican true believers. I like to think of her as the gift that keeps on giving. Sarah in 2012. Sarah in 2016. Sarah in 2020. Sarah in 2024. This could go on for awhile.

  16. I'm glad the election is over and I will fully support our new President. My disappointment comes from knowing that the Mayor is not being honest with why he did this.

Richie is going to do what he always does; grant little favors with full intentions of receiving special treatment later. I realize it's human nature to do this, but it's one reason why Chicago politics remain so corrupt. I don't blame Daley for the corruption because it was here long before he was elected, but he has perpetuated the problem rather than deal with it.

Chicagoans who also wanted Obama as President because he would be extra nice to Chicago are perpetrators of the problem with Chicago politics as well. We should want fair treatment rather than special treatment. There's a huge difference.
