Are Wilson Yard Amendments Legal?

Seems when Chicago TIFs make amendments to their original plans, the Department of Planning and Development publishes the changes in the "Legal Notices" section of the paper. (Click on the image to see a larger version of the First Amendment to the Kostner Avenue TIF.)

Did anyone see any legal notices published for the many, many amendments made to the original Wilson Yard plan? (You know, the one with theatres, mixed-income housing and community input.)

Enquiring minds want to know.

  1. Of course we didn't see anything. This whole boondoggle has been about hiding information, not giving it.

To me, this says it all:

Then afterwards, go to www.fixwilsonyard.org and contribute NOW!

  2. I emailed the 46th ward office, asking what retailers had signed on, why the housing goals are so vague, and the response was 'all the info you need is on the 46th ward web site'

    huh?

  3. Also, did anyone serving on the Wilson Yard Task Force receive notice?

  4. The Wilson Yard Taskforce?

Do you know anything about this task force? It's anything but a task force. It's a kangaroo court, filled with the developer's employees, the alderman's employees, Mark Kaplan, and a few others, hand picked by the Alderman.

The BPN representative never asked a question, never raised an issue. You also had someone representing Clarendon Park Neighbors, who never went to the meetings.

There you have it. Your Wilson Yard Task Force.

  5. It didn't matter that it was a kangaroo court that made no decisions. Helen used it to claim community participation. The press and City Council never questioned a thing.

  6. As an (obvious) update....when Shiller's term comes up, her pension will be firmly in place.
I'm not sure what's worse......her dreadful legacy, or her 'holding out' until her pension is in place.
    Is there no justice??
