Who Has Checked Out 'R3 Salon' on Wilson?

"R3 Salon" on Wilson at Dover has been open for just about a month now. The owner mentioned receiving a lot of business at the start, but from what we hear, he needs more people to check out his salon. So, we want to hear from you...have you been in for a haircut? Remember, if you want businesses to flourish on Wilson and are tired of the countless vacant storefronts, keep your money in Uptown when possible. Call 773-784-3333 for an appointment.

  1. I was tempted to go in the other day, but as a guy I'm always worried these salons are going to nail me with a 30 dollar haircut. I looked at his front door and I didn't see any prices posted, so I passed. That being said, it looks like a nice place!

  2. Haven't been, but Yelp has nice things to say and according to their site, prices are reasonable

I'll probably stop by when i'm up for another cut

  3. I got a great men's haircut from him about a month ago. He gave me a great "business-friendly" haircut that was very safe and professional but still stylish.

Yes, he's more expensive than a regular barber, but he's very good at cutting hair, is a really nice guy, and laid it on the line to open a business in our neighborhood!! People who complain about the dearth of quality businesses in our neck of the woods should make an effort to support those that do come in!

  4. I've gotten both a women's haircut and pedicure -- enjoyed both experiences. Richard took my vague comments about my hair and gave me a great look. I'm normally bad about going back for regular cuts, but will be back because R3 is close and because I want to support Richard. As SP Resident says, we need to support the businesses that take a chance in our neighborhood.

  5. Richard was nice, but I get a buzz cut, so the prices are a little steep for me. He also gave me a manicure, at my G/F's insistence because we had to go to a wedding. I wne there just to support the new business, but it is not my thing. He was great though.

  6. I got drawn in by the opening discount offer. I went in for my mani/pedi appointment last week and was very happy with the experience. I don't get treats like this for myself very often, so I was delighted when the whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable. I didn't feel like my nails were rushed through, and when I pointed out a missed spot (ok, so I can be ocd!) they couldn't have been nicer and more eager to make me happy. It was great to be able to walk to get my nails done in the neighborhood, and I had a really interesting conversation with Richard, the owner. I wish I needed a haricut, but when I do I will be coming back.

  7. I went in for a haircut and loved it. He told me how to style my hair (like blowdry it so that I don't kill my hair). I'll be in in a few weeks for another trim. $30 for a trim for me is a good investment in making our neighborhood better!

  8. Holden, there's a price list on the website. I just went there this past weekend and was happy. I'd been going to Mary's for an $8 haircut, which did the job of getting my hair shorter, but the quality varied wildly. depending both on the stylist and how many people were waiting. It was nice to have Richard tell me what was working - and what wasn't - with my current hair, and to make it right.

  11. My feet could use some love after all the torture I've put them through, so I think I'm gonna stop by for a pedicure.

  12. Alas,

due to male pattern baldness I shave my head.

Is back waxing on the services offered menu?

Falco. Be very careful. After girlfriends get you to get a manicure the next thing on their mind is ballroom dancing lessons.

You can guess what comes after that.

    RUN, Falco, RUN.

  13. Sounds like a good place. I will have to visit the next time I need a haircut. I just had my haircut while I was out of town for work, so perhaps in a few weeks I will go for a visit.

  14. I went in for a haircut about a month ago and it was (and still is) a great cut. Richard was very thorough and I thought the price was very reasonable for a woman's cut.

  15. If he was actually there for walk-ins during supposed business hours, I would actually support. It is very annoying pushing a locked door with an open sign behind it.

  18. I went there 2 weeks ago to get my "natural hightlights" colored by Richard and he did a great job at a great price too....I recommend you call ahead for an appointment just as you would the more expensive salons-- as he can get busy with walk-ins....I also got a manicure while I was there, it was nice, small selection of colors though.

I hope the local residents give R3 a try and support this wonderful new salon! I noticed alot of men stopped in for hair cuts and from what I could see Richard and Brittany did a great job with them too, they could not say enough! Plus the price of men's haircuts were $25 or so, not bad compared to Andersonville prices.

  19. I noticed several "temporarily closed" signs on the door and windows of the shop today...says it's closed until November 17th for medical reasons.
