Now That's Some Detailed Information!

A reader informed us that there's finally a zoning notice posted at the McJunkin Building about the proposed rezoning. We've been very curious to know what prompted the change and what kinds of businesses are being looked at.

This is what the notice says: "To change B1-5 neighborhood shopping district to B3-3 community shopping district to establish more kinds of businesses on property."

We're not sure whether to laugh or to be insulted that this is what passes for the legally required "description of the nature, scope and purpose of the application or proposal" in Helen Shiller's Uptown.

  1. "More kinds of businesses?" How deliberately vague. Specifically, WHAT types of businesses???

  2. The only noticeable difference in language is from "neighborhood" to "community" shopping. Is there a website where we can find legal definitions for these words? Is Hugh, our legal counsel, available for consultation? :)

  5. if "we are switching to a permissive zoning because it's more permissive" is allowed to pass for the "description of the nature, scope and purpose of the application or proposal" then we might as well give up on public notice

  6. We can only hope for another methadone clinic at this location.
