Graeme Stewart Campus Park Grand Opening

The News-Star has a story on Uptown's latest "green space":

Uptown Gets a New Park
Campus-Park Dedicated at Stewart Elementary School

For some unknown reason, when most of the city's public elementary schools were first built in the early 20th century, someone thought it would be a good idea to put concrete all around them. But parents and staff at Graeme Stewart Elementary School, along with Ald. Helen Shiller (46th), knew they could do better for the children of Uptown.

Our favorite part is the mutual brown-nosing, er, lovefest between Daley and Shiller (get a room, you two!):

"Shiller credited the mayor with creating the city's campus parks and for establishing a partnership with the Chicago Park District, CPS and the city."

"Daley called Shiller a 'progressive, hardworking alderman' who not only thinks of her own ward, 'but the entire city.'"

    I hope it stays nice. I have my doubts.
