Mr. Huberman!!If this small lot has a market value of nearly $2m, think what the WY would have brought to your cash strapped CTA? Oh well, just raise the fares.
I'm glad in a way. We really don't need to add to the supply of condos in Buena Park right now. The negative price pressure is bad enough already.
I've never really understood why they painted this KFC grey once it closed. Were they concerned that people were still driving up trying to order buckets of original recipe?
I don't understand the grey either. I wish they'd just knock the building down to ward off rats. It's not a building I'd like to see re-used in any way! Some day we will get something there that comes out to the street corner and has retail on the ground level... Let's hope another auto-oriented business doesn't go in.
is there a high demand for parking in this area?
They paint it grey so as not to tarnish the KFC brand. It's marketing. A deteriorating KFC building makes the whole brand look run down and effects other stores. No hidden adgenda
Yes, Mildred, I'd say there IS a high demand for parking garages/lots in Uptown, as well as any of the other "old" neighborhoods of the city whose housing stock largely dates back to pre-automobile days. Rogers Park is also notorious for this as well as some of the side streets in Lincoln Park and Lakeview. I agree, perhaps the "highest and best use" would be a public parking garage with some sort of retail on the main floor. Of course, there's always the chance that during the summer, parking spaces for the "locals" would be at a premium since lots of Cubs fans driving in from points north would perhaps park there, then hop on the L at Sheridan/Irving or just walk to Wrigley.
I don't think we should build any more parking anywhere. The age of the privately-owned automobile will be over within the next few deacades.
The age of the privately-owned automobile will be over within the next few deacades.WOW that's pretty presumptuous and you can back up that statement with?Because our public transportation infrastructure is so modern?
What! NO MORE PARKING RAMPS. I would have loved to see this condos with retail on the 1st floor. Of course with this economy I understand, but I actually live directly behind this KFC, and a new condo building would look better than this grey piece of crap.
baby - are you speaking about the building just west? is that condos or apts?
