"I have been reporting this "metal guard" to 311 and the CTA that has been broken right in front of Ace-Hardware at Broadway and Clifton for over a year now with nothing done. I first saw it last year on UU. I've also seen people sitting on the end that is still attached to the concrete just inches from cars zooming by down Broadway. Is it going to take someone tripping over it and falling into oncoming traffic for the CTA to realize it needs to be fixed? The lady at 311 told me it was CTA property. Either remove it, or fix it. Of course, this is just south of Leland where everything changes.
Well, if it's CTA property, let's see how many of us need to email the CTA to get this fixed.

Let's tie sh!t to it! I have a drawer full of unmatched socks--if I get a chance, I'll get out and do that.
ReplyDeleteI love that idea, Spinner! Make it so obvious that people stop averting their eyes to its presence.
ReplyDeleteHow about instead of socks you tie a bunch of old baby doll heads to it, kinda like in The Blair Witch Project. Then it would serve as a proper entrance to Blood Alley. A good power wash and some new paint would make the area look a bit less like the hell scenes in Silent Hill.
ReplyDeleteI go to Uptown Bikes and Ace all the time but I always feel like a piece of concrete is gonna fall on me as I walk to and from.
I'm not sure what's worse on this strip:
ReplyDelete-threat of falling concrete
-being overcome by the stench of urine
-crossing the street to avoid a band of 'white shirts'
-nonexistent or poor lighting at night
Gee, I guess it's another Shiller-is-oblivious piece of the puzzle.
