  3. "Go back to the suburbs!"

Yeah, the culture where everyone knew who to hate and were all in agreement that the hatred was completely justified was much better.

Now that Uptown is a litte more diverse than it was before, those who were desperately trying to keep "those people" out for years are screaming foul.

    Thanks for your comments ally.

By the way, it sounds some serious introspection would help you a gread deal. Just a thought. Nothing personal.

  4. What I missed some racist post? Not fair. How did that happen from a beach photo?

At least I got back in time to hear some more of Pirates man love for Obama. Get a room.

Im voting for C. None of the above

    I do love the lake.

  5. Chiparoo,

If I'm getting a room with an Obama it ain't going to be Barack.

Alas, Michelle is married so I must demur. That's one sin I have not committed. Otherwise I'm working down my list.

  7. I just think your confused a bit. It's OBAMA not O'Bama.

Oh by the way Ally referred to raping and pillaging and McPalin and the Patriot Act and "white shit".

Just to give one an idea of the quality of her discourse.

Geez that's terrible. Glad is was deleted.

Hay Pirate (hay is for horses), as you're "riding a horse and killing the natives," what's your beverage of choice?

  9. Kenny,

If Ally were commenting she would probably say my beverage of choice is "native blood".

My "beverage of choice" is the same as my preference in women. Whatever is in front of me.

Seriously, besides the whole vampire thang, dark beers, Pepsi One to keep my girlish figure, and red wine for my aging heart.

  10. Pirate,

I question the Pepsi One, but *shrug* whatever blows air up your kilt. I just hope you don't ride a white horse.

  11. Poor naive Ally! He or she didn't know that the proper place for off-topic subjects is the UU Forums.

So he/she ranted hate all over a photo of the beach at sunrise.

Now, I didn't see the rant, and it seems like it would have been deleted under any circumstances, but ... geez, hatin' on someone under a sunrise photo?

Ally, for future reference, you can start a topic in the Uptown Update Forums, linked on the right. If you spew hate, it'll be deleted, but at least you'll be a little more focused.

  12. Yea, I question the Pepsi One too, but I'm old.

Pop music reference. Bound to lose me.

As for horseback riding I haven't done that since college. Actually took a class to satisfy a PE requirement. As I recall I was the only male in the course and I still got no action.

    Woe is me.

  13. Please delete ally's comments.

They are general, racist, and not even close to factual.

    "an open lover of capitalism"

Yeah sorry dear, that is America. You seem to be fond of telling others to move to the burbs, so if you do not like capitalism move out of the country. Go try facism, or communism, or any other ism you see fit.

Chicago is segragated in your mind because your mind has become segragated.

  14. Ally,
I read what you are saying, yet I honestly wonder if your nostalgia clouds reality.

Going with the theory that "we" (apparently to you all people posting here are peas in the same evil pod) are taking away the beauty of Uptown, what beauty are you speaking of? The things most people here oppose are not in my definition of "beauty"- rampant drug abuse, gang violence, and political corruption. If you find this beautiful, then like Mr. Obama (who I will be voting for-sorry to blow your image), I'll just have to disagree with you.

To be honest, the culture of uptown has changed over and over in the last century, long before you were born here and claim to have had the 'original' experience. Ironically, the "natives" of uptown were less than 1% non-white in the 1930s. In the 50's and 60's, most of the minority population was playing swinging jazz in the entertainment district (and these guys are my heroes, let's get that straight.)
The baddest gang bangers on Magnolia and Sunnyside in the 70's and 80's look quite different than those you seem to find beautiful today...check it out
    http://www.gaylords712.com/sungln.html

I only write this little history lesson to remind you that neighborhoods fundamentally change over time and this one is no exception.

Despite your claim to know what it "really was like," I bet there were a lot of people who thought Uptown's beauty and culture was "raped and killed" when you were growing up and enjoying yourself. My guess is that you wouldn't respond well to being told to "move to the suburbs" or that you were responsible for ruining a neighborhood, so I encourage you to more carefully direct your frustration and hatred in a way that you would be comfortable receiving.

I don't really care what race my neighbors are, I care what kind of people they are. I know that the only "natives" I see getting killed are getting killed by each other. I know the only "shit" I see around is from the drug addicts that loiter/live in parking lots and from dog owners who leave it in the grass (separate issue, but had to sneak it in!)

Sorry you don't like what's happening here. Then again, you don't live here, so maybe you took some of your own advice.

  15. i have never lived in the burbs... my family is like 6 generations of chicago natives, both sides...

and i never moved to the burbs...

i know the history of uptown thank you, all those jazz singers moved out to the burbs during what history calls the "white flight" and what makes uptown the mental health district of chicago is when in the 1970's the government brought tons of busloads of mentally ill people and dropped them off in the streets of uptown

  16. "when in the 1970's the government brought tons of busloads of mentally ill people and dropped them off in the streets of uptown"

And they have been walking in cirlces around Uptown ever since unable to find there way back home. Bouncing off the force fields at Clark, Foster, and Irving Park. If we could some how dimantle those force fields if only for a few minutes these fine folks could make it out!

Im going to do it. Who is with me!

  17. Ally,

6 generation Chicagoan on both sides?

I find that hard to believe outside of Canaryville and parts of Bridgeport. Even the damn Daleys are only on there 6th Chicago generation and that is if you count the original immigrants.

Then most of what you say stinks more than Sarah Palin after a 6 day moose hunting trip.
