News-Star: "I Think About Him Every Day"

Brandon Shephard, the Uptown man who found Baby Wilson wrapped inside of three plastic bags underneath some bushes in his courtyard building, says he thinks about the abandoned newborn every day.

Shephard was out of town last weekend and was unaware that a 15-year-old girl had allegedly confessed to giving birth to the infant and then discarding him outside to police on Sunday, until he checked his voice mail the next day and heard messages left for him by News-Star.

Police credit Shephard with saving the baby's life. In a July interview with News-Star, Shephard described how he tore open the three plastic bags that were tied at the top and discovered the hours-old newborn at 2:30 a.m. on July 8.

"I think she did the right thing," he said of the mother. "I think she needs professional help. She is very young. She's still a minor. She's not even a young adult yet."
