More than 400 Uptown residents representing all walks of life sent a clear message to elected and city law enforcement officials at a town hall meeting last week in response to the summer's rise in crime and two midday shootings last month.
The message was simple: We're not going to put up with it anymore.

Neighborhood residents asked for funding for more police on the streets and state legislation that would offer vouchers to private business owners to install security cameras on their places of business, adding to the two existing police cameras allotted to each ward in the city. Residents also relayed stories of witnessing gang fights, hearing gunshots, and being verbally harassed by panhandlers drinking in the street.

This is what it is about. I'll be honest I don't really care if some banger gets dropped (live the life/die the life)....but this-this was one tragedy to much.
