A reader noticed that the "For Sale" signs have disappeared from the ever-changing lot at Clark and Lawrence, and a zoning amendment sign is placed there instead.
Apparently a four-story building with 12 units of residential & 15 parking spaces, plus ground floor retail, is planned. We think this is much more reasonable than the original plan, which called for a six-story building (19 units of residential & 24 parking spaces), dwarfing everything else in the area.
That area needs some retail space other than 50 cent taco diners, discount shoe stores or Auto Towing garages.
ReplyDeleteIf Clark St ever revitalizes, the new residents of Rainbo will have money to spend.
Overall I think this is good news for the neighborhood. I really hope they put something nice in the retail space below.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone heard what's going on with rainbo village and their retail space? It seems dead.
retail space is dead all over the City the economy is bad
ReplyDeleteHopefully, it will be in keeping with the new money coming into the hood. I lived in that old building that was torn down 45 years ago. The neighborhood was much different then, but things are cyclical so it will revitalize slowly. Be patient Uptown dwellers. If there is money to be made, it will come.......
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice that the "Contact" is John A. Fritchey... as in the 11th District House Rep? I checked the # to verify that it wasn't just a coincidence... although this isn't in the 11th district, it's odd that he would be the atty listed, unless he's the person who bought it? Anyone have any feedback?
