If Only We Had Seen This On June 1 At Wilson Yard

What a groundbreaking day at Wilson Yard THIS would have been!

As you have probably already noticed, the latest deadline for construction to begin at Wilson Yard has come and gone. No press release from the Alderman's office or from Holsten Management has been issued to explain this latest delay, which is reflected by our new timer ticking away on the right. We encourage our readers to email both Dave Roeder (droeder@suntimes.com) from the Sun-Times and Thomas A. Corfman (tcorfman@crain.com) from Crain's Chicago Business. Both of these reporters spoke with Mr. Holsten who confirmed the June 1 deadline for construction that has since come and gone.

  3. There was a new riot today in uptown - a laugh riot. This is the best picture of what a joke those three have become to Uptown. I really think they are under the impression that we are blind to the whole Wilson situation. Even with the press and UU, I think they still see the people of Uptown as the old majority of criminals and homeless who could care less about the future of the hood. The same folks who are throwing trash, drinking and spitting in public view. The good news is I have not seen anyone urinating in weeks. Things are looking up.

  4. Only one thing missing...the halo above Shiller's head!

  5. Has everyone emailed the reporters so they know another deadline has blown by?

  6. I e-mailed the reporters and I also went on to ABC7, CBS2, NBC5 and WGN's websites to submit the Wilson Yard project as an investigation item for them.

If you do a google search on Chicago News, you'll get all of their websites. If you click on the link, you can pretty easily find a "Contact Us" link at the top or bottom of the page. I entitled all of the subjects as "Wilson Yard." Maybe if they see a deluge of requests, they'll investigate and report on the matter? Just a thought...

  7. I'm actually a bit relieved that this deadline has come and gone. Both for the chance for some humorous photoshopping AND renewed hope that the project might be delayed until we have a competent alderperson who will create a development that is good for ALL (gasp*) the residents of Uptown! Keep the counter going guys :)

  8. Daley looks like a member of The Village People - the one who stays home alone on Saturday nights. Great pic.

  9. That picture is absolutely hilarious!!! We should have a poster size of this printed and plastered on the big construction sighs out there... hilarious! or even better, let's do cardboard cutouts of them and put them out in WY...

    thanks for the laugh!

  11. Please please please! whoever the talented artist is can you do another picture of Wilson Yard with Shiller at the controls of a steam shovel (or whatever they are called these days)? That would make my day!! And my second request....would be Helen in a witch's hat! I swear she has the perfect face for a nice black pointed hat!

  12. Ditto on the posters. Get enough to post them all along the make shift Wilson Yard fencing.

  13. Hey Anthony,

Nice work contacting the news channels. I have a really bad feeling about this project. It should have been sold at market value, so the CTA would pay their bills.
