Demera And Fat Cat Get Outdoor Seating

We spotted workers outside "Demera" Ethiopian Restaurant at Broadway and Lawrence today assembling chairs and tables for their new outdoor seating area. Across the street at "Fat Cat," patrons have been enjoying the outdoor seating area on Broadway and down the Gunnison side for a few weeks now.

  5. Thanks for the recommendation Superhero, I haven't tried Demera yet, but have it on my list.

And yes farrell - I agree, Fat Cat can be a bit pricey for a "night out drinking." - funny how that tab runs up.....

    On a similiar note....
Does anyone know the status or even if Club Lucky (of Bucktown) is still pursuing space on the corner of Lawrence and Broadway? Another nice place to hang out...

  6. Welcome Jimo. I agree that Fat Cat has good staff and a great beer selection though..
..but I have eaten at Demera 4 times and was really happy each time. My only complaint with them is their alcoholic beverages are pretty pricey as well.. $5 for a beer...

  7. Dammit, I had to admit this, but I like that trendoid Fat Cat spot. Yes they have a GREAT beer selection, yes the food is quite good and a step above "bar food" (I had a chicken sandwich that was mighty damn tasty). And yes the bartenders and cooks were extra nice. And there's the occasional drink special to offset the price of the food. Dammit, why? I don't want to like this place!

  8. I've eaten at Demera too, the food is quite good. I had a problem with the incense though, I went when they first opened, and it gave me a nasty headache... but the food was yummy.

  9. Hi Farrell,

They did not have any incense burning when I was there, might want to give it another shot..or hey, do the sidewalk cafe.

Marigolds also has sidewalk seating by the way.... and in my humble opinion, it is THE BEST restaurant in Uptown...

  11. I too love Fat Cat. Good food, great beer selection, good bloody marys, great service. They also have a few nice TVs to watch sporting events.

They also have a shuffle board table in the back. Shuffle board ROCKS! I do wish the music (during the day) was a bit more upbeat.

  12. Fat Cat. Demera. Marigold. All excellent.

For those of you who feel the tab at Fat Cat can be a bummer, head there for dinner Monday nights. It is the deal of all deals: $1 buffalo pulled chicken sammies that taste like a zillion$$. Get a bucket of fries (big enough for two or even three) for $3.95 and you're set. I believe they also have a $1 beer special that night, which changes seasonally??

Marigold prices: er, well, it is what it is :)
