Another Uptown Murder?

From Chicago Tribune:

An autopsy Wednesday determined a man found floating Tuesday in Lake Michigan on the North Side had been shot in the head and his death was a homicide, authorities said.A jogger spotted the body floating in Montrose Harbor about 8 p.m. Tuesday and called police, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He appeared to be in his 40s, but remained unidentified Wednesday afternoon, an office spokesman said. An autopsy showed he had suffered a gunshot wound in the head, the spokesman said.

UPDATE: The police believe the body is that of Artur Shehu, the Villa Park cabdriver who left his cab at the lake with a suicide note in it after he allegedly murdered his parents last January.

  1. Good catch on this story you had it up well in advance of the media. You amaze me.

  2. Hey, if we had made it to April 20 it would have been the one year anniversary of the man who torched himself and his van in an explosion in front of all the kids at the Wilson Skate Park at Wilson & Lake Shore Drive.

Why must everyone come to Uptown's lakefront to make their dramatic exit? They don't live here.

Ah, but where would they go if not for our open shores and lax police?

  3. He probably was used to parking his cab here because of the amnesty.

  5. The van that was torched by the Wilson state park was a retailation for gang warfare. We heard that at one of our CAPS meetings.

  6. No it wasn't. #1. I was out there that day. #2. He doused himself with gasoline and set himself on fire over by the wood chip pile east of the blue dumpster.

It was ruled a suicide. He had the van loaded with pressurized containers of gas to make the van explode to finish the job.
