Crumbling Into Disrepair

This poor old building housing "Majestic For Men" has seen much better days. The building (at Leland and Broadway, the retail "equatorial line" of Uptown) has a lot of potential and features some ornate terra cotta detailing but it is crumbling into disrepair. We spotted this large chunk of terra cotta that has fallen off onto the Leland side of the building today. It's a sad statement on how we take care of our buildings in Uptown. We can only hope that someone is willing to help the owner repair the exterior of this building. There were grants available for business owners to do just that.

  1. The landlord is the CTA. Since they sold the Wilson Yard land at such a bargain basement price, perhaps they could be persuaded to do some upkeep on their property just a couple blocks north.
