U-Haul Taskforce Meeting, October 16 at 7pm

This is a community group whose goal is to rid the area in the 4000 block of N. Broadway of loitering and public intoxication. We will hold our meeting in the same area that loitering takes place all day long, October 16 at 7pm outside "Public Storage" 4050 Broadway. We want to take back this area of our community. We will continue to discuss the following at the meeting:

*Recent arrests in the 4000 block of North Broadway
*Police follow-up to the ongoing problems of public drinking
*U-haul’s progress on security cameras on their property
*Alderman’s Office follow up on contacting U-haul corporate about fences all the way around the property
*Problem solve how we can get better follow up on our concerns in the area

If you have a dog, please continue to walk past the area and call 911 if you see something illegal. We need all the community members we can get who want to help solve this very difficult problem. Just coming to the meetings and standing in that area for 45 minutes has had a very big impact. The guys who stand there are very upset that we continue to do this. If you have been to the last few meetings you have seen this demonstrated first hand. When I walk by that area they often get upset when I check if anyone is drinking. Our time and effort has not been wasted but we will need to continue to work at it. Please try to attend the meeting and pass the date on to your friends and neighbors who live in the area. Anyone is welcome to come, even your dog!

  1. I was at the meeting last time, and one of the men who loiters in the area said he was sick and tired of white people picking on the drinkers when they do nothing about the white people who drink in that area or around Wrigley Field. A number of us spoke up and encouraged this man to please call the police whenever he sees white people drinking, black people drinking, and purple people drinking. We didn't care what color their skin was. We don't want them drinking at that site.

  2. Funny how it always comes back to race with these types and what they feel they are entitled to. Be it drinking and urinating in our neighborhood, or taking things from our cars. This is why I am opposed to public healthcare, all it does it increase the life expectancy of these people so they can steal more of our stuff and make a mess of our neighborhood

  3. To the last anonymous poster, I'm someone is likely completely on your side when it comes to the U-Haul problem, but I found your post disgusting. Vitriolic statements make Helen Shiller look good in comparison.

  9. The nice part of Uptown, do the hookers look better there? The hookers in my part of uptown don't really do anything for me. Sometimes I wish I lived in a Polish neighborhood I got to believe they field a goodlooking bunch of whores there.

  10. Some of you anonymous posters need to learn how to punctuate your sentences.

Or just stop drinking so much.
